The LEGO® Technic™ 42240 is inspired by the Aston Martin Aramco AMR25 Formula 1 car, featuring the team’s signature green-and-black racing identity and a large 1:8 scale Technic design.

The biggest difference between the real car and the LEGO® 42240 is indeed mainly the color.
1. The real car has a deeper, cooler, more metallic color
The real Aston Martin AMR25 uses a main color that is closer to British Racing Green / Aston Martin Racing Green. Visually, it feels like:
Deep green + blue-green tone + metallic paint reflection
Under track lighting, it is not an ordinary bright green. Instead, it looks more premium, cooler, and deeper — a true racing green. The official AMR25 is the 2025 season car of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, and the team revealed its livery during the F1 75 launch event.
2. The LEGO® 42240 color appears brighter and more like a standard green
From the official images, the green used on LEGO® 42240 looks closer to the brighter green tones available in the LEGO parts system. It does not fully capture the deep metallic racing green of the real car.
The LEGO official page lists the set as Aston Martin Aramco AMR25 F1® Car 42240, but because the model is built with plastic elements, and because LEGO Technic color options are limited, it is difficult to fully reproduce the metallic green paint effect of the real race car.
Simply put:
| Comparison Point | Real AMR25 | LEGO® 42240 |
|---|---|---|
| Main Green Color | Deep green, blue-green tone, strong metallic feel | Brighter, more standard plastic green |
| Surface Texture | Painted finish / carbon fiber / reflective surface | Matte or semi-gloss ABS plastic |
| Premium Visual Feel | More mature, refined, and race-oriented | More toy-like and visually brighter |
| Black Areas | Carbon fiber black, clear aerodynamic separation | Simplified black part separation |
| Sponsor Details | Dense real-world decals with more accurate proportions | Stickers/prints are simplified |
| Body Lines | Lower, sharper, and more complex | More blocky due to Technic beams and panels |
3. Why is the color difference so noticeable?
The main reason is that LEGO does not have a standard Technic body panel color that perfectly matches the real car’s metallic green.
The real car’s color depends on metallic paint, carbon fiber, track lighting, and surface reflections. LEGO, however, uses fixed plastic color tones. Especially for large Technic panels, the available color range is more limited, so the final look becomes brighter and more “plastic green.”
Some LEGO community discussions have also pointed out this color difference, saying that the LEGO version looks noticeably different from Aston Martin’s real racing green. Some fans even feel that a deeper turquoise or dark green would have been closer to the real car. This is subjective feedback from the community, but it still shows that the color difference is clearly visible.
To be honest, this car reminds me of the color of CADA Sauber.
Even though the green color on LEGO® 42240 is not as deep or metallic as the real Aston Martin AMR25, the model still captures the overall look of the car very well. The low F1 body shape, wide tires, front wing, rear wing, and racing details all make it easy to recognize as an Aston Martin Formula 1 car.
For Aston Martin fans, this is still a very collectible LEGO Technic set. It may not be a perfect color match, but it does bring the spirit of the real AMR25 into a LEGO build. Once displayed with the right background or display frame, it can still look powerful, premium, and worthy of a collection.
